15 Good Things

In 2007, the First Private radio in Bulgaria - Radio FM+ celebrated 15 years. We decided that in order to thank for the support of our listeners, we will do 15 good things. During a one-year period through our website or directly on air by voting, we helped to:

  1. Organized in cooperation with the fund “For Our Children” a charitable campaign and we managed to raise 57 000 USD from residents and companies. We used the money to build a ramp, an elevator and accessible rest rooms in Sofia 136th School “Lyuben Karavelov”.
  2. One of our listeners in a wheelchair sent us a letter in which she asked us to help her pay her monthly bill for the Internet. She wrote: “The Internet is the only way possible for people to learn about me.” Immediately after the letter was read on air many people called and wanted to help.
  3. Thanks to the efforts of our team in Stara Zagora we managed to restore one of the symbols of the city – a unique clock in the centre of the city.
  4. Ten people from our team and some of our listeners voluntarily donated blood under the aegis of Bulgarian Red Cross.
  5. On the eve of Christmas we helped some kindergartens. Our listeners chose 13 kindergartens from the country and they received Christmas trees, decorations and gifts.
  6. We donated home cinema systems to Daily centre for children with learning and physical disabilities “Marina” in the city of Haskovo (700 USD).
  7. We donated furniture and office equipment to the cultural club “Hristo Botev” in the village of Tserovo, Sofia (1500 USD).
  8. Our team together with the children artists, painted in bright colours and joyful paintings the walls of the children’s oncology in the City Hospital in Varna.
  9. After the disastrous forest fires in Bulgaria, more than 20 people from our team together with some of our listeners and in the presence of John Byerly , the ambassador of the USA in Bulgaria, planted more than 150 young trees at the place of the burned forests.
  10. We arranged the cleaning of the outfall of Iskar River.
  11. We arranged a charitable lottery during a specially organized festival in Sofia, devoted to 1st June- the Children’s Day. The money raised (800 USD) was donated to the cause “Do not leave me” – prevention against the abandonment of babies.
  12. We supported the initiative of the fund “Children with developmental disabilities” to raise money for the building of Medical centre for children with disabilities in Student’s town, Sofia.
  13. We also supported the initiative of “Faber Castell”. They appealed to parents to help disadvantaged children by choosing the products with a special logo of SOS Children’s settlements – Bulgaria when buying school appliances for their children.
  14. We supported the initiative 1 pack = 1 vaccination “Campaign for fighting tetanus” together with UNICEF and Pampers ®.
  15. Listeners voted that the last good deed became a fact 15 years ago – the start of the First Private Radio in Bulgaria – Radio FM+. Thank you!
